Aquaculture products including fish, crustacea, mollusks, wild sea vegetables, algae and related
aquatic life-forms as well as water chestnuts, water cress, can be certified on a primary production
land or as wild harvest.
Aquaculture operation certification rules, land or open marine, audit system also looks at contamination
and assessment of risk of contamination. This includes monitoring of water and ensuring that construction
materials will not contaminate the water. Parallel production of the same species is not permitted.
Protection of wellbeing also includes consideration of habitat, disease and pest control and exposure unnecessary
stress.
Section 6 of ACOS (Processing/ Preparation) also applies to Aquaculture. All products must be stored and
processed in certified facilities.
